A marina and residential area just west of the little coastal town of Manilva and its seaside extension Sabinillas, Duquesa lies a little west of Estepona in the direction of Sotogrande and Gibraltar. Here you will find long sandy beaches with magnificent views over the Rock of Gibraltar and the North African coast. The area is well provided with a wide range of services, though the charming town of Estepona is little more than 10 minutes away and Marbella centre under half an hour.
Duquesa’s residential area flows outwards from a pretty Andalusian style marina complete with shops, restaurants and cafés. The beaches that extend outwards from it are large, sandy and front open stretches of Mediterranean, dotted with occasional beachside urbanisations and a lovely old fortress. Cross the coastal road and the greenery of the Duquesa Golf and Country Club becomes the reference point bordering which attractive apartments, townhouses and villas are grouped. Though very much focused on the sea, this is a region that finds itself surrounded by beautiful countryside right at the entrance to the Serranía de Ronda mountain range.
Popular with tourists in general, the area is particularly appealing to golfers and families looking for classic summer pleasures. Duquesa is less expensive than Marbella yet offers the same glorious climate, sea, natural beauty and similar services and amenities, with Marbella and Puerto Banús themselves not far away. The marina, as well as nearby Sabinillas and Manilva, offers a great choice of dining, entertainment, sport and nightlife in a scenic setting.
Duquesa has always been more affordable than Marbella, which means that it offers more house for less money. Many of the villas and apartments here are top-spec of the kind that would cost a significant amount in one of the residential areas further east. As a result this part of the coast offers great value for money and investment opportunities, including some of the region’s last bank repossessions, which are offered at greatly reduced prices with full mortgages available subject to qualification.
