Having decided on buying a property in Spain, I Googled some estate agents and chose one with multiple properties for us to view. Made contact and arranged to meet when we visited Costa del Sol Bank Holiday weekend. We chose around 8 properties to view. In the meantime, a friend recommend Bromley Estates as they had sold a property to a friend of a friend and he had a great experience. I’m so glad we got this recommendation. Emma at Bromley Estates contacted us several times before we flew out to find out the type of properties and areas we wanted to consider. We were only considering Benalmadena Pueblo. Emma picked us up from the airport on Friday night and took us to several apartments and town houses, new builds and old. By the end of the afternoon/evening Emma had taken the time to find out exactly the type of property that would make us say Wow!   Saturday morning we were booked to see the other estate agent and very much looking forward to viewing the 8 properties. You can imagine our disappointment when we were picked up by someone we hadn’t spoken to before our trip, told us they cancelled all the properties as they didn’t believe that’s what we were looking for and proceeded to take us to a new development called Serenity that is be finished in 10 months – 2 years time. No, no, no. That’s not what we asked for. An hour later we were back at our hotel. Emma to the rescue. I called her and told her what had happened, give me ½ an hour she says, I’ll pick you up. So off we go again with Emma to view more properties. After exhausting everything that was available in the area we had set our heart on, Emma suggested we take a drive. She took us to Calahonda and La Cala and gave us so much information, showed us the beaches, the bars, the restaurants, even the local butchers. We loved it there and realised that this area suited us much better than Benalmadena Pueblo.   Final property of the day was a gorgeous 5 bed town house in Calahonda. We fell in love. Beautiful. However, it was slightly over budget. Sunday morning I emailed Emma to say we love the property but would like to see more in that area to see what else is available. With Emma, nothing is too much trouble. I’ll pick you up at 9.30. So, on a Sunday Emma was making the relevant calls to get us viewings for Monday morning. Again Emma arrived to pick us up and take us to another handful of properties, then back to the beautiful 5 bed town house. We bought.   I can’t recommend Emma and Bromley Estates enough. They certainly took good care of us and there was absolutely no pressure to buy. Both my partner and I felt that they had our best interests at heart and wanted to find us a property we wanted to buy, rather than trying to sell us any property.   Thank you Emma. One in a million. UK nationals are now only entitled to stay in Spain for 90 days, in any given 180 day period. Which means, unfortunately, buying real estate in Marbella isn’t as straightforward as it used to be – but that doesn’t mean it’s impossible.

A Spanish Golden Visa can be issued to any non-EU national who intends to make a significant investment into Marbella property (worth at least €500,000). This entitles you to live and work in Spain and grants access to a range of public services – therefore offering Brits a way to overcome the obstacles created by Brexit and permanently relocate to their dream property in the Costa del Sol.
