Costa del Sol – Live long and prosper

Buying Property in Spain – The comeback you’ve been waiting for
Alright fine, we admit it. This blog might seem a bit biased, and focused completely only on the good reasons why you should move to the Costa del Sol now, but we have plenty of facts to back up our claims. You see, right now in 2015, the property market in Spain is making a huge comeback. Reports and statistics are circulating far and wide, and ratings agencies like the Fitch are promising only positive indicators for the future of property investments in Spain.

According to a recent report by Fitch Ratings Agency, increased mortgage activity is boosting Spanish real estate. Looking back at the second half of 2014, we can see that all signals were pointing to better opportunities within the property market; which was fueled by a major increase in foreign investment. The report also indicated that the most encouraging sign for economic recovery in Spain is the re-emergence of mortgage loans. So basically at the end of the day, it seems the banks are back on board, and they are willing to grant mortgage loans to individuals looking to finance a Spanish property purchase.

All the current data is supporting the theory that stability within the property market in Spain is here to stay. Considering there is so much good news going around, we feel that it’s high time you were brought back up to speed about why moving to or buying a property in Marbella or the Costa del Sol would be good for your health!

#1 The weather

Here’s a great one to add to the “Did you know” file. What makes Marbella incredibly unique? It’s something called a micro-climate, and it’s spectacular. Southern Spain is highly regarded for a number of reasons, as you can well imagine; however, it’s the weather that is at the top of everyone’s list. You can expect up to 320 days of sunshine, with very little rain fall. This micro-climate is a result of the nearby mountains that protect Marbella from the cold, making it the go-to destination for northern Europeans. Now ask yourself, why live in the cold, damp and depressing wintery weather a moment longer than you need to?

#2 Super barato cost of living (cheap!)

It’s a well known fact that rent and utilities are extremely reasonable in Spain, and much cheaper than many other places in Europe. You only have to compare the cost of living in the UK to see the potential savings! Granted, salaries can be lower, but that said, food shopping and dining out is significantly cheaper, so you can live extremely comfortably on the Costa del Sol. With mortgages becoming more readily available, there is also the opportunity to get on the property ladder, buying a small house or even a beautiful beach front apartment on the Costa del Sol.

#3 The health benefits

Another great point to add to the “did you know” list is that Spain’s health care is widely regarded as one of the best in the world. This is where things get even better…The World Health Organisation (WHO), has stated that Spain’s environment was “near perfect” for obtaining miraculous cures. Not so much miraculous like in the divine sense, but because of the surroundings and natural diet.

It will come as no surprise that Spain offers one of the best diets in the world, the Mediterranean diet was invented here, and the Spanish have the highest healthy life expectancy in Europe, averaging around 82 years. The sunshine and salty sea air in the south, mixed with healthy eating habits makes the area beneficial to those who suffer from asthma, rheumatism, arthritis or heart related problems. Moving here is just better for your overall health!

#4 The Spanish lifestyle

We could go on all day, listing the reasons why now is a good time to buy property in Spain, and the benefits of living in southern Spain. In fact, there are hundreds of reasons why moving to Spain can dramatically improve your wellbeing and here are just a few of them: family life, culture and diversity, fiestas, siestas, wine and tapas, the area’s natural beauty and of course….the endless sunny days.

So what is the famed Spanish lifestyle? All of the above is the simple answer. However, you should be warned, it is highly addictive and futile to resist. You’ll find yourself slowing down, forgetting your previous fast-paced, heart attack inducing lifestyle, as you slip into the mañana mentality.

In Andalusia, there are only a few things that they take very seriously; their family, the siestas, and the seemingly endless fiestas. Their motto is definitely “work to live” and if you want to be a part of it, you will need to adapt – so just relax.
