August in Andalucia

As the temperatures heat up and the beaches swell with families enjoying the height of summertime there are plenty of other things to enjoy whilst you are here, whether you are resident or visitor.

Entertainment
The Starlite Festival is on throughout the month and you can catch some great national and international acts. It really is a great night out. Check out who is playing and book your tickets here: https://starlitemarbella.com/en/

Malaga Feria
This well-known feria is one not to miss. From the morning, the streets of Malaga start filling up with people dancing sevillanas and drinking sweet wine to the beat of clapping. As the sun sets, the fair site opens its doors to let people in to enjoy concerts, music, kids’ attractions and a long list of other activities. Shooting games are interspersed with the famous tombola and delicious candy floss. Malaga does a feria very well so come along and enjoy 15-24 August. There will be other ferias in Andalucia throughout August.

Watch the Sunset at the Parador de San Nicolas, Granada
At day trip to Granada is a must when you are visiting. So much history and culture and it is something very different to a day on the beach. One of the most beautiful views in the world can be found in the famous Parador de San Nicolás in Granada. The picturesque neighbourhood of Albaicín watches the sun go down each day in one of the prettiest sunsets on the planet, where the Alhambra sits majestically before you, bathed in different colours until night falls. Fantastic photo opportunities.

Head to the hills
It may be too hot to sit at the beach so why not go and explore Benhavis. This luxury resort boasts and excellent selection of fine dining restaurants. You could play a round at Los Arqueros Golf & Country Club and then after lunch wander around Tower Park, an oasis in the town centre.

Catch a game of polo
Throughout August in Sotogrande the Santa Maria Polo Club becomes home to most important social and sporting gathering on the international polo circuit. Mix with the rich and famous who love to come along and watch. Whilst over here you could perhaps charter a boat out of the marina or head to Gibraltar for some tax-free shopping.

Beaches
We have to mention the beaches of Andalucia as they really are the perfect place to chill out as the Mediterranean laps the shores. Cooling down in the ocean is the perfect antidote to being roasted on a sunlounger and the chiringuitos will be serving espeto – the culinary delight of fresh baked sardines on a skewer – a local delicacy you should definitely try. If the beach doesn’t appeal then there are plenty of trendy beach clubs along the coast including Nikki Beach, where the party is ready for you.
