Fabulous Fuengirola

This stretch of coast has long been popular with tourists and due to its amazing attractions and superb beaches it is a place where many overseas buyers choose to live due to its proximity to Malaga airport meaning easier travel.

Sandwiched between Torremolinos and Marbella, the former fishing village of Fuengirola is now one of the Costa del Sol’s biggest draws. It does have some high-rise hotels but these are balanced by lively bars and tourist-friendly restaurants and side streets and squares crammed with upmarket tapas bars and chic boutiques.

There’s a whopping eight kilometres of sand, split into eight different beaches here in Fuengirola starting at Sohail Castle all the way to the marina and onward to Carvajal in the east. Paseo Maritimo is a bustling promenade that backs the beaches and chiringuitos – the perfect place to take an evening walk. There are plenty of international bars and restaurants here but if you are looking for something with a more traditional vibe head to the trendy tapas bars around the towns’ main square, Plaza de la Constitucion.

If it is culture you love then a visit to Sohail Castle is a must. This former Arabic fortress sits 40 metres above sea level and there are some spectacular views from the top of the towers. Living in this area of the coast you’ll find a superb array of golf courses including Golf Torrequebrada, La Cala and Calanova Golf Club.

Buying property in this area offers a wonderful investment opportunity as many holidaymakers love this area for all there is to do here and whether to choose to buy and live here or buy as a second home, you will never be short of things to do with vibrant ferias and the outdoor lifestyle as a whole being the biggest draw alongside the climate of course. Take a look at some of the prime properties in Fuengirola and you could just find your dream home in the sun.
