Properties for sale in La Duquesa
Never heard of La Duquesa? It may be the ‘best kept secret on the Costa del Sol’, but it could be home to your dream property.
Often overshadowed by its glitzier neighbouring resorts, this elegant marina can offer the same excellent quality of life (if not better!) – just within a slightly quieter setting. Plus it has a superb selection of apartments, townhouses and villas available at a very reasonable price point.
Here at Bromley Estates, our portfolio features a fantastic cross-section of these. So why not take a look at the current properties for sale in Duquesa and get in touch?
What type of properties are for sale in Duquesa?
La Duquesa is made up of two main areas – Puerto de la Duquesa, which is the marina itself and the area immediately surrounding it, and Castillo de la Duquesa, which is a village close to the castle.
Both of which have a large and diverse selection of beautiful homes.
From modern apartments with spectacular sea views to quaint townhouses and luxury beachside villas, La Duquesa real estate has something for everyone – whether you’re looking for a summer holiday home or a permanent residence, and no matter what your specific needs or tastes may be.
Several contemporary new build complexes have popped up in recent years, but compared to other nearby resorts, development is still proceeding at a less hurried pace. The majority of homes in this area are low-rise, with a whitewashed or terracotta aesthetic and classic Andalusian features.
Regardless of which area or style you choose, all properties in La Duquesa share two key benefits. Firstly, they have an excellent location, offering a tranquil oasis amongst natural beauty – whilst still being close to popular tourist towns. Secondly, they all offer exceptional value for money.
Is a property in La Duquesa right for me?
Commonly known as the ‘New Puerto Banús’ or the ‘Port’, Duquesa has an advantageous location just west of Marbella – falling directly between Estepona and Sotogrande and alongside the coastal town of Sabinillas.
But whilst it may be within touching distance of these hotspots, it’s a thousand miles away in terms of its character.
At its heart, this is a low-key Mediterranean marina. A point along the coast where the traffic eases, the landscape becomes even more stunning, and residents can enjoy a truly authentic slow-paced Spanish way of life.
For most of the year, it’s an incredibly peaceful place to live. The quaint port does become a little busier in July and August, thanks to its multitude of bars and restaurants and the natural influx of holidaymakers – but compared to nearby resorts, it’s still very tranquil and easy-going.
That doesn’t mean there isn’t anything to see or do, though.
The marina itself is filled with delicious cafés and chiringuitos, creating the perfect spot for a long lunch in the sunshine. It’s also a haven for boating and water sport enthusiasts, with plenty of local companies offering the chance to enjoy sailing trips, fishing trips, jet ski hire, wakeboarding and more.
The area is also home to unspoiled natural scenery and beautiful countryside, ideal for exploring. Plus, you can find historical sites, long sandy stretches of blue flag beaches, several local markets and an abundance of great golf courses – including the legendary La Duquesa Golf and Country Club.
An excellent quality of life is one of the Costa del Sol’s key attractions, and this is dazzlingly evident in La Duquesa. Combined with a relatively low cost of living, quick and easy access to international airports and a good infrastructure of day-to-day amenities (e.g. schools, supermarkets, medical centres), it’s little wonder that property in La Duquesa has become increasingly popular.
In fact, the area now has a thriving community of expats.
Admittedly, it may no longer be ‘the best kept secret’ or ‘hidden gem’ of the Costa del Sol. But it’s still unknown to most who drive past. It could, therefore, be the perfect haven for you to while away the days of your summer holidays or enjoy your golden years to the fullest in a beautiful La Duquesa home.
How much does property for sale in La Duquesa cost?
Not as much as you might think.
One of the main benefits of Duquesa is that homes are excellent value.
Despite the area’s ideal location along the coast – and its recent increase in popularity – property for sale in La Duquesa has yet to reach the same dizzying heights as its neighbouring resorts.
There really is something here to suit all budgets. Yes, the biggest most luxurious villas and mansions in prime locales are regularly valued at €1-2 million or more. But you certainly get a lot more than you would for the same amount of money in Estepona, Sotogrande or Marbella. And stunning one-two bedroom apartments and townhouses often start from as little as €100,000–200,000.
If you want that much-vaunted ‘Costa del Sol’ lifestyle, but don’t want to live amongst the hustle and bustle, a property here could be perfect. No matter how much you’re looking to spend, as a leading estate agent in La Duquesa, we’re confident we can find a place that matches your wish list.
