Spring in Andalucia
Springtime is one of the best times of year as we shake off winter and embrace warmer weather. Here in Andalucia the weather and landscapes are perfect for exploring as temperatures rise but aren’t too warm to enjoy. Whether you love the beach, the mountains, plains and forests…you name it, Spain has it. Aromatic blossoms around the region spring into life and fill the air with fragrance.
It is the perfect time of year to enjoy a round or two of golf and spend the rest of the afternoon at a chiringuito on the beach relaxing and enjoying the warmth of the sun.
Everyone comes out of their winter hibernation and celebrates the arrival of spring as festivals, concerts and other special events begin around the region. Spring means that people gather to eat, drink, dance and enjoy the weather and their rich culture. On any given day, you can walk the streets and find people sitting outside of cafes or in the parks relishing the time of year.
Visiting Andalucia during the months of March, April or May you will find the weather, festivals and beaches less bustling than during the heated months of summer. If you love exploring then Spring is the perfect time to visit some of the historical and cultural sites in the region.
Head to Granada, to see the Alhambra palace, the Generalife gardens and the mediaeval Albaicín neighbourhood; in Cordoba, its historic centre with the great Mosque; in Seville, the cathedral, the Alcázar palace and the Indies Archive; and in Jaén, the monumental sites of Úbeda and Baeza.
Of course, a few days spent in Malaga can be the perfect antidote to a stressful life with its many museums and art galleries and if you need more, tantalise your tastebuds in an award-winning restaurant or a relaxing tapas bar, wander the marina and look at the yachts or shop till you drop.
