Where are buyers looking for property in Spain?
During Q2 of 2019 there were 16,209 homes purchased across Spain by foreign buyers according to data from Spanish Association of Land Registrars. The market with the highest proportion of property buyers from abroad was Alicante province in the Valencia Region, home to the Costa Blanca, where 41.81% of home sales in Q2 involved a foreign buyer.
Next came Tenerife province in the Canary Islands (28.91%), followed by Malaga / Costa del Sol (27.9%), the Balearics (27.49%), and Girona / Costa Brava in Catalonia (26.04%).
Generally speaking the activity is from predominantly British buyers who aren’t being put off by Brexit ups and downs. And we can see why, as whether buyers are looking to come and live here in Spain or buy a holiday home, the property prices are still very reasonable and Spanish mortgages are available for non-residents.
