Things to do in Autumn on the Costa del Sol
Autumn on the Costa del Sol – Top things to do
“Winter is coming…”
Last week after a stretch of heat so intense, the temperatures finally started dropping here on the Costa del Sol. Not that we like complaining about the summer heat… but we’re sure the collective sigh of relief could be heard as far away as Morocco. It’s hard to believe that another glorious summer has come and gone, but that doesn’t mean visitors to the Costa del Sol will be left with nothing to do, quite the opposite in fact – autumn weather in southern Spain is absolutely perfect for a wide range of activities.
Top things to do on the Costa del Sol in autumn
This time of year has to be our favourite here at Bromley Estates Marbella. The weather, although still hot, is not quite so fierce yet it’s still warm enough to head to the beach during the day. It’s around this time of year that Brits really see the value of owning a holiday home on the Costa del Sol, as an escape from the colder climates back in the UK. Southern Spain becomes a little quieter, retirees head over here to enjoy the sunshine and kids are back at school.
So what is there to do on the Costa del Sol during autumn? Quite a bit actually!
Golfing on the Costa del Sol
If you own a lovely golf apartment overlooking one of the Costa del Sol’s many golf courses, you’ll already be familiar with the enjoyment you can experience from an autumnal round of golf. From September onwards, the 30 degree heat is but a distant memory and golf becomes the Coast’s most popular pastime. And with over 50 golf courses in the area, it is no surprise that it is affectionately referred to as the Costa del Golf.
Some of these courses are situated in the most beautiful locations and are just as famous for their spectacular panoramic views as they are for the quality of the greens. One such course is Los Flamingos Golf Club; surrounded by the mountains and close to the sea, you can even see Gibraltar in the distance. There are plenty of courses to choose from, but if you want a short list, you can check out the top 5 must play golf courses on the Costa del Sol.
Paintball
If you fall into the more energetic camp, then you may want to try your hand at paintballing. It is one of those cool sports where you can “hunt down” your friends (and your little darlings) in a fun and friendly environment. In the summer months, paintballing is not for the faint hearted, this is because you must wear protective gear, literally from head to toe. This can be quite hot as you can well imagine. But in the autumn, when things are cooler, you can choose from the few popular paintball excursions here on the Costa del Sol.
It’s a great day out, and you get your share of physical activity. This is a wonderful outing for the entire family and it’s especially popular for those hen or stag dos. Check out one of the best places for paintballing on the Costa del Sol.
VOSE – English Movies on the Costa del Sol
Love to go to the movies? No problem, you can go to a number of cinemas to watch the latest blockbusters at the same time they are released in the UK. This is called VOSE, which means that the movies are shown as the original version language with Spanish subtitles. There are 3 main cinemas on the Costa del Sol that show English language films: Cines Teatro Goya in Puerto Banus, Cinesur Miramar in Fuengirola and Yelmo Cinema in Malaga. Just remember if you want to find original version on the Costa del Sol you need to look for VOSE.
Camping on the Costa del Sol
Usually we tend to skip July and August when it comes to sleeping in a tent under the stars. But, mid-September to December, camping is the perfect excursion. The Costa del Sol is beautiful all year round but when autumn arrives you will notice just how green your surroundings will become and it is nothing short of breath taking. Camping at El Chorro lakes for example will leave you stunned with the surrounding beauty. Tarifa is another place where campers travel to. There are literally hundreds of spots where you can pop a tent and just relax under the moonlight.
