If the weather in the UK or wherever you are has you staring out of an office window yearning for a better life, then think Spain. In 2020, you could be making your dreams of owning a holiday home come true. Now if you are golf lover, you will know Spain is the perfect place to live or have a holiday home.

There are more than 70 excellent golf courses from east of Málaga to Sotogrande, the Costa del Sol is not only Spain’s golfing ambassador but also the leading golf destination in continental Europe. Since the 1997 Ryder Cup was played at the prestigious Valderrama – the first time the event had been held outside Britain and the United States – this 150-kilometre stretch of golfing paradise has also been popularly known as the Costa del Golf.

Over the past four decades, the Coast has hosted numerous other European Tour events – men’s, women’s and seniors – among them the World Cup, World Golf Championship, Volvo Masters, Spanish Open and World Match Play Championship.

Whatever level you play at, there is a golf course or three with your name on it. Some of the world’s most renowned architects have also designed courses on the Costa del Sol, including the legendary Robert Trent Jones.

Golf here is further enhanced by the amazing climate. The high season is actually from spring to autumn, with golfers from the more northern climes delighted to be able to play on the Coast throughout winter as their home courses are enveloped in snow or buffeted by wind and rain.

So, what if you don’t play golf? Non-golfers accompanying their golfing partners and family members can also take advantage of the Costa del Sol’s other superb sporting and leisure amenities, including tennis, pádel, horse-riding, polo, cycling, hiking and water activities – as well as gyms and spas.
