La Sala in the Sky Opens to Rave Reviews

Now here’s something completely different

La Sala Group, the high profile hospitality group, seems to have done it again. Teaming up with famed Basque chef Aitor Perurena, they have brought a completely new concept to Marbella – let’s just say, they can’t get any closer to the stars than this. Last week, La Sala in the Sky was launched as an extraordinary and exciting concept, special guests to try this novel idea of a ‘floating restaurant’ included members of the press and the Mayor of Marbella himself.

As its name suggests, La Sala in the Sky offers you the opportunity to transform an ordinary meal into a magical moment, whilst hovering 50 metres in the sky. The 22 seat floating restaurant affords an incredible jaw-dropping 360 degree view of Marbella and the surrounding areas. What’s more each seat can swivel to make sure you can take advantage of your favourite part of the skyline. This is all whilst enjoying the gastronomic dining experience.

So how does it work? It’s a simple but extremely effective concept. La Sala in the Sky is essentially a restaurant on a platform which is raised above the ground by a crane. Guests sit in leather seats (which are secured to the platform) and once strapped in they are lifted to the skies to enjoy their 90 minute dining experience.

The chef’s professional team and skilled serving staff will then commence serving a delicious 5-course tasting menu, wines and champagne.  As a guest at this very special restaurant you will definitely be in for an incredible night and something that you will remember forever. It would be the perfect gift if you wanted to treat someone special in your life this summer, as a romantic setting it is nothing short of perfect.

The concept of a ‘floating restaurant’ was devised by a Belgian company “Dinner in the Sky” and they already created more than 5000 venues spread throughout 40 of the world’s most glamorous locations. Thanks to La Sala in the Sky, Marbella is the latest to join this illustrious list, which includes Dubai and Villa Borghese in Rome. Dinner in the Sky has also been names by Forbes Magazine as one of the world’s most extravagant dining experiences.
The restaurant was officially launched on July 8th to critical acclaim and the general consensus was the La Sala Group has taken dining to another level. Chef Aitor’s artistic and innovative cuisine is very well known amongst gastronomes in Marbella. Born and raised in a village near San Sebastian, since then he has worked in some very successful kitchens. He even created his very own culinary school called Estudio Gastronomico with his wife; and later, his highly regarded restaurant named ‘1870’.
