Visitors flock to Spain to enjoy the climate and of course the wonderful beaches throughout the country. Here in Andalucia we have our fair share of Blue Flag beaches where families know they can be safe and facilities are good.
The iconic Blue Flag is one of the world’s most recognised voluntary eco-labels awarded to beaches, marinas, and sustainable boating tourism operators. In order to qualify for the Blue Flag, a series of stringent environmental, educational, safety, and accessibility criteria must be met and maintained.
Spain has 669 blue flag beaches, putting it top worldwide of the list compiled by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE).
If you’re loving the rising temperatures making it feel like summer here in Andalucia right now, why not grab those beach towels and head down to one of the Blue Flag beaches and enjoy the first taste of summer with some sardines in a beachside chiringuito.
